myVETmo Students Navigator takes privacy and the protection of personal data very seriously. In compliance with data protection regulations, we only process your personal data if this is permitted by law or if you have given your consent. This privacy policy describes the collection, use, disclosure, storage and protection of your personal data.

This Privacy Policy applies to the collection, processing and use of personal data on the website, and on all websites, applications, services and tools (“myVETmo Students Navigator”) associated with these websites and operated by Polynomad.

2. What personal information we collect and why we collect it

2.1. Server Data

For technical reasons and especially to ensure a stable Internet presence, data is transmitted to us or to our provider via your Internet browser. With the log files of the server, the type and version of your browser, the operating system, the website from which you switched to our Internet presence, the website of our presence that you visit, date and time of the respective access as well as the IP address of the Internet connection from which the use of our Internet presence takes place are collected.

Data collected in this way is temporarily stored, but in no case together with other data from the user.

2.2. Using a test account

In this free beta version you use so-called test accounts to test the myVETmo Students Navigator and try out with limited functions. With a test account, you can create content and media in the member area, comment on content and exchange information and private messages with other users.

Using a test account means, that you are not going through a registration process and we do not have any personal data (e.g. your e-mail address) or contract data of any kind that would entail the fulfilment of contractual obligations and services in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit b DSGVO. The storage of the published contents, contributions or media of the individual users and their provision takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. This consists of continuous optimisation of the platform.

When using the test user account (in particular when writing articles and uploading media), we do store your IP address and the respective time in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO for 7 days, as both we and you and other users have a legitimate interest in protection against misuse and other unauthorized use. In particular, it must be possible to determine the identity of the author when publishing unlawful content in order to enable criminal prosecution or to assert claims asserted against us even against him. After this period, the IP addresses will be anonymized or deleted. IP addresses, the further storage of which is exceptionally required for evidence purposes, are excluded from anonymization or deletion until the respective incident has been finally clarified.

You can ask for your contents to be deleted, unless this is opposed by applicable law. Content published by you (in particular articles, media, comments and messages to other users) will be retained after deletion, unless there is any applicable law to the contrary. All other data that is not used in the sense of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c DSGVO must be stored or kept for legal reasons, will be completely deleted upon deletion of your user account.

2.3 Content and contributions

When visitors post content or posts on the site, we collect the information the visitor has posted to display it. We also collect the visitor’s IP address and the user-agent string (which identifies the browser) to help detect spam.

2.4. Media

If you upload photos to this site, you should avoid uploading photos with an EXIF GPS location. Visitors to this site may download photos stored on this site and extract their location information.

2.5. Cookies

Our website uses few cookies in the context of our legitimate interest in a technically flawless online offer and its economically efficient design and optimization according to Art.6 Para. 1 lit.f DSGVO, so that our offer can be used better, more effectively and more securely.

If you log in to this website with your user test account, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is discarded when you close your browser again.

When you log in, we will set some cookies to store your login information and display options. Login cookies expire after two days and display option cookies expire after one year. If you select “Stay signed in” when you sign in, your sign-in will be maintained for 30 days. When you log out of your account, the login cookies are deleted.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and only refers to the contribution ID of the article you have just edited. The cookie expires after one day.

Your browser allows you to prevent the use of cookies completely or in individual cases. Please refer to the operating instructions for your browser for more information. You can permanently prevent the storage of cookies in your browser by installing this plugin.

2.6. Embedded content from other websites

Contributions or contents on this website can contain embedded contents (e.g. videos about the video streaming service YouTube, pictures, contributions etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These sites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed additional tracking services from third parties, and record your interaction with this embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content, if you are logged into this site through a test account.

3. How long we store data

When you write content or posts, the metadata is stored indefinitely. This way we can automatically detect and release interactions instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

All users can view, change or delete their personal information at any time (the username cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and modify this information.

4. What rights you have to your data

If you have used the test account on this website, you can request an export of your personal data from us, including all contributions, content and media that you have written or uploaded as part of your test. In addition, you can request the deletion of any personal data that we have stored about you. This does not include the data that we have to store due to administrative, legal or security reasons.

You have the right to information according to Art. 15 DSGVO.

If false data are processed by us, you have the right to correction according to Art. 16 DSGVO.

Further, you can under certain circumstances request the deletion or restriction of the processing (“blocking”) of your data according to Art. 17 DSGVO or Art. 18 DSGVO. 6.1 We protect your data

In accordance with Art. 32 DSGVO, we take measures to adequately protect your data and not expose it to any risk. In doing so, we attach importance to regular updates of the technology, which are in relation to the effort involved and the probability of the occurrence of risks to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. We have developed measures that protect the rights of those affected and, in particular, the right to deletion and reaction in the event of danger. In accordance with Art. 25 DSGVO, we have already taken data protection measures into account during the development phase of this platform.

The current security measures include in particular the fully encrypted transfer of data between your browser and our servers on all pages using HTTPS protocol, the use of dedicated servers located within the EU and the regular import of software updates.

6.2. Change of the privacy policy

If a change of the data protection explanation becomes necessary once for legal or actual reasons, we will update this side accordingly. No changes will be made to the consent given by the user.
